I have to admit, I am a real patriot. But not because of my love for my country (I love it, of course, but that is not the main reason), but I am just terrified of planes. So my traveling distances are limited by ferries and cars. The farthest place I have been is Sweden, and I travelled by ferry, of course. We went there because our firm sponsored this voyage to celebrate its anniversary. As I am not a drinker, I really enjoyed the excursion, but many of workers didn’t even abandon the ship. We visited the old city and a ship museum. Very traditional tourist trip, but I enjoyed it and look forward for a longer stay.
This past weekend, we had our first taste of Fall in Florida. I was able to open up the windows for the first time in 5 months and air out the house. The cooler weather totally energized me so that I felt motivated to start on my Fall housecleaning. I took down the curtains and washed them, washed the windows, spruced up the deck and cleaned out the flower beds. I trimmed the hedges so that they will be nice and even for hanging up the Christmas lights. I even cleaned out the garage – in the summer, it is just too unbearably hot to spend very much time in the garage. On both Friday and Saturday evenings, we went out to eat with friends, and I felt like I deserved it because of all the hard work I had done during the day!
There are many things I'd love to change about the world, but the biggest things, like poverty, hungry children, climate changes, terrorism, etc., are so big that I would have no idea where to start. I guess one big area that could be changed with just a world-wide ban would be changes to the internet. The internet provides many useful and wonderful sites and makes life easier to buy things, to keep in touch with family and friends, to pay bills, and many other things. However, it also has a dark side. Pornography, including child pornography, thrives on the internet, despite policing by various agencies. Identify theft is a big problem. One area a lot of people don't think about is the massive amounts of time that millions of people waste by playing games and instant messaging on the internet. If there were some way to do it, I would tear down the entire internet as it now stands, and then restart it, but make getting a site on the web very difficult, and only for legitimate subscribers. No internet porn, no mindless games, no objectionable sites at all – and everyone would have to go back to paying their bills by check and mailing them just like we did for years.
Siberia is the furthest from home that i’ve ever been. I live here in the sunny and peaceful town of Temecula, which is very far away from Siberia. One time I had to travel to Siberia to deliver a package. But someone stopped me. I was carrying a very important item sought by evil men. They stole it from me. My mission failed but at least I had the opportunity to travel to the beautiful land of Siberia. Many types of species of exotic wild life can be observed in Siberia, including special species of birds that have beautiful and peaceful shirps.
Last weekend I went to an amazing art exhibition, spread over the gallery, there was an eclectic and interesting mixture of painting, sculpture, photography and installation work from current practicing artists. What I like the most of the exhibition were the large paintings by Dan Perfect. These are overloaded, striking canvases with a fantastic balance of colour and texture that get more interesting the more you look at them. Up close you can see loads of different layers, media and textures. Not only his but all the other artist, overall a great exhibition, it was free, in a great location and with something for everyone.
If I’d have to choose it'd be Tolerance, which sometimes seems like it doesn't exist. The importance of tolerance nowadays lies within the possibility that gives us of living together in one place with people of different cultures or beliefs. Tolerance needs to be practiced every day since is what let us live in harmony in the same country with people from other religions, with other political tendencies or different sexual orientation, etc. In despite of the fact that we know sometimes tolerance can be difficult, what we all need to understand is that is something that we can’t have it done for us but needs to come from everyone, must be something each and every one of us work on.
